If your baby’s poop is white, pale yellow or grey in color, this can be  because of liver blockage. Bile is produced by liver cells, this is a liquid substance that aids in breaking down fat in the digestive system.

When there is an overbuild of bile in the liver, it can tear it up causing a condition called cirrhosis. This can result in liver failure, which is very dangerous to your child’s health.

Biliary atresia usually occurs when your baby is around 2 to 8 weeks old. The biliary atresia also has other symptoms used to identify it apart from the white poop. Liver blockage, is not the only thing that may induce white curds in your baby’s poop. Sometimes, your baby might experience this if he or she is on a milk diet. If your baby seems normal even while having white poop, it could be because of this reason. But if there are other things involved, you should definitely see your doctor.

What usually is the white substance in my baby’s poop?

If your baby’s poop is different from the normal brown our yellow faeces and you are seeing white substances, do not panic. While it might seem very weird, it is a normal thing for babies who eat solid food, as it could be undigested food.

Things like breastfeeding can be a cause. The white curd is seed like, or looks like little cheese. But they are just fats from milk that was unable to get digested, or broken down in the digestive system of your little one.

Fat in breastmilk, is not something that I constant, as it usually varies time after time. The foremilk, is the first milk produced at the start of a feeding session, and it is the part low in fat, and it also contains other needed necessities essential for survival.

The one produced at the later part of breastfeeding, the hind milk, has more fat, and this could accumulate, making your baby’s poop contain white curds.

Once your child starts getting older and takes in solid food, there might be presence of undigested food in their system. This can cause the presence of white curds in the child’s poo too.

Is the presence of white curds in your child’s stool dangerous?

If your baby has white substance in his stool, you should not feel relaxed. This occurrence is not normal for kids and adults. If you notice this, you should get your kids evaluated by a doctor.

This drug is safe to take in, so if you notice that your child is having white stools, you should try to remember if the kid took in any antacid drug.

Barium

If your child recently had an X-ray of his or her digestive system, they are usually told to take a white substance called barium.

The barium helps in making the image clearer by enhancing it. This is why the X-ray is white in color. This substance usually finds its way out of your system through your stool, and this might make it contain white curds.

The presence of diarrhea

Another reason why your child may have white poop, is the presence of an infection. Gastrointestinal infections like diarrhea, usually causes digestive malfunctioning, thereby making it go out of balance. This could result in abnormal stooling, and a change in the composition of the child’s stool.

You should ensure that you see your doctor if you are worried about your child’s stool appearance. The white stool may not be because of something serious, but you should definitely not take risks.
