When To Stop Using Baby Monitors?

Introduction:  over the years the baby monitor just like every piece of technology developed in recent years, has been dramatically improved to the extent where it can be used even when you’re not in the house with your baby. The baby monitors produced in the past five years have a very good signal range and a screen resolution so high you can see clear visuals of your baby.

The baby monitor has come a long way from when it just had audio or video qualities now it has both qualities and even offers Wi-Fi connection for when you’re not in the house or when your baby’s room is far away from yours.

Benefits of baby monitor to the child and the parent.

The main benefit of the baby monitor is safety because as we have seen on numerous occasions from the internet and other parents experiences the little ones can get into all sort of shenanigans while they are supposed to be asleep at night.

So a baby monitor will help you to prevent your little ones from doing dangerous things like trying to climb the furniture in their rooms, playing with their curtains, trying to swallow clothes and so on. It also helps you ensure that your baby is sleeping in a safe position.

Another benefit of the baby monitor is that it helps to reduce anxiety especially for first time parents as they can keep an eye on their babies even when they are out running an errand or two or when they are at work or out relaxing or when the baby is with a sitter rather than worrying about what your little one is doing all the time.

Increased freedom is also a benefit of the baby monitor because you can do all other things that may not necessarily be done in the same room as your baby and still be assured that your baby is safe without rushing into the room every 5 minutes.

The video baby monitor can also help you to sleep train your baby because you’ll know when your baby needs you to intervene or when she’s just making noises. With a baby monitor you’ll be able to tell when your baby becomes fully awake or when they just wake for a minute and go to sleep on their own rather going in there and disturbing her sleep or hindering the sleep training progress.

This is where privacy comes in and as parents the amount of privacy you should give your child is always hard to decide and will trouble you into their teenage years. When it comes to privacy there are no strong rules to play by but it’s very important that you give your child some room to find herself rather that over crowding her.

Why is age 3-4 a good time to stop using a baby monitor.

First off it’s the time when most parents stop using baby monitors and although everyone is not the same and doesn’t necessarily have to follow the same rules it’s also a fact that experience is the best teacher and since the parents who gave this information has passed through this situation, it’s safe to say that they are right if only to some extent.

Secondly it’s been proven that children become aware of their own body by age 4-8 and may start to ask for privacy especially when they want to change their clothes so it’s time to let them have a little privacy which you’ll gradually increase as they grow older and progress into their Teenage years.

Thirdly it gives your child freedom and space apart from you and some time in which to make their own decisions and choices on what to do, what to play with and to play safely. It can also help your kids to become confident and decisive.

What to know about baby monitors

There are different models and types of baby monitors available today but it may be difficult to choose or decide on which model to use. Some baby monitors have just audio or video qualities while others have both with varying signal range strengths and screen resolutions.
