Cigarettes are one of the main causes of early death in this era. And consumption could even cause many complicated health issues.

The main thing causing these deaths and diseases, is the tobacco I’m the Cigarettes, vapes, hookahs etc. Many health experts report amount of people who have suffered chronic lung damage due to smoking, and inhaling the carbon infested smoke from these substances.

What Causes A Kid To Start Smoking

People who chew tobacco are prone to nicotine addiction and various lung and heart diseases same with people who smoke it. But this substance is still used by many people because of its addiction. Many young people are picking up this habit, and it stays with them up till adulthood.

Infact, up to 90 percent of adults who smoke or take in tobacco, picked up the habit while they were little. So it is very important that parents are aware of this issue, and ensure that their children actually stay clear of these substances.

What problems does smoking and tobacco cause?

One reason why smoking and chewing of tobacco causes major health related hazards, is because they contain nicotine. And nicotine is so addictive, and many people usually get addicted to it after some days of use. It is actually as addictive as cocaine and heroine, and is extremely hard to stop.

Some of the issues caused by smoking and excessive intake of tobacco are;

  • Heart and lungs diseases
  • Stroke
  • Cancer of the Lung, stomach, throat, bladder etc.
  • Pneumonia
  • Ulcers

Smoking also make women have miscarriages, and weak bones. A woman who smokes would find it hard to conceive a child, and experience broken bones regularly.

Tobacco affects the body in an alarming rate, and it makes it hard for your lungs to function properly.  They cause throat irritation, bad breath and other breathing related issues.

Smoking could also lead you to taking marijuana, cocaine, heroine and other hard drugs.

Why do some kids engage in smoking?

Kids are usually drawn to smoking for variety of reasons. It’s either they want to look cool, act older and mature, seem tough, independent or even lose weight.

But parents can help in keeping these kids away from things that may lead them to begin vaping. You should talk to your kids about the use of tobacco and make it easier for them to overcome those issues that could make them resort to this vice.

How can you talk to your kids?

As a parent, if you want to prevent your kid from smoking or chewing tobacco, you should be aware of these things;

Talk to them about the issue, in a way that does not seem like a punishment or judgement

You should use the approach of a teacher, rather than a disciplinarian when telling them about this issue. Smoking is something that many people start, because they were not well informed of the dangers associated with it. This habits gradually destroys the body system, and it is a very dangerous one.

Expose your kids to various other activities

Some times, these vices are turned to, because your child is idle and not doing things that he enjoys. If your kid loves sports, support him. If he needs a PlayStation, get him one as this will keep him preoccupied and busy in his idle time. The girls should also be watched and as usual, given gifts too.

Tell your kids to avoid friends who smoke

Don’t only tell them to do something, but also tell them why they should do what you want. If they hang around people who smoke, they are very likely to get influenced by that person. Make sure that you are well aware of his or her friends, so it will be easier to know what your child is up to.

Set up various rules in your home

Once your kids are well knowledgeable about the rules you have set for them, it would be very hard for them to disobey them. You should do this during their childhood time, as it would stick with them for a very long time.

What should I do if my child smokes?

If you have a child that smokes, you should try to communicate with that child. Effective communication goes a long way in issues like these, and it could even change someone for the better.

You should first find out whether he or she is actually smoking or not, and talk to the person. Then you tell the person about the dangers associated with smoking or vaping. After that you start devising a plan for your child to finally quit the habit. Good parents do not start nagging, but they rather look for various solutions to solve the issue at hand.

Is it normal for an 11 year old child to start smoking?

Of all the things an 11 year old should be doing, smoking isn’t supposed to be one of those. But in today’s society, children could start smoking by 11 years and get addicted to the vice before 15 years.

For children to stop this, parents have a very big role to play. Ensure that your child is knowledgeable about this vice, and it’s effects. Tell them about the disadvantages smoking has to their health and total well-being, and ensure that you vigilant enough to notice if your child is smoking.

You should first of all question them to know the real cause of the smoking. If they are smoking to fit in with their friends, or look cool, act mature or seem independent, you would be able to tackle the issue if you know the root cause.

You should encourage them to stop spending time with people who smoke, and tell them why they should avoid those people.  Sometimes, these children may start smoking because of pilled up stress, encourage them to focus more on their hobbies than resorting to smoking and inhaling harmful substances.

Smoking cigarettes have various adverse effects on the reproductive system of girls and it increase the risk of infertility, premature delivery, low baby weight, and miscarriages.

Women smoking has many bad effects and it is not advised to inhale these poisonous substances. Your respiratory system is also at risk, as there are many ailments that follow smoking. It also causes early menopause because of it’s adverse effects.

Do cigarettes affect women periods?

Yes it does. Women who smoke usually have an increase in cramps when compared to women who do not smoke. And these cramps could last for two or more days.

Finally, you should understand that these kids learn lots of stuff from their parents. So you as a parent should endeavor that your child does not realize that you smoke.

If you are a smoker, you should seriously consider smoking as you are doing yourself more harm than good. It is not simple to quit, but with various programs created for this purpose, you could get out of the mess you got into.
