Tis The Season For Eating

‘Tis the season for eating!!!

I can hear my indulging commentary to myself

oh why fight it, it’s the holiday season – after all – it is really all about the food!  I’ll be REALLY good AFTER the holidays.

( in holiday forked tongue what that really means is weeks and weeks of being really really bad )

I’ll binge now and worry about it later

( sort of like, I’ll shove it in faster than I ever did before because come January I am going on a diet!! )

Sound familiar?

Once upon a time I was a whopping size huge.

At size hefty I thought how could ANY weight loss really make a difference?

OH gee – I lost 10 lbs – Only 100 plus lbs to go! Now what?

Forget it.

One brownie became 3 brownies simply because what difference did it make?

In the bigger (ha!) picture of things I was already BIG.

Do fat people have someone to talk to about these things?

How bad does it have to get to shift from hefty to healthy?

How horrible did it have to be?

For me?

I got scared. Really really scared. I also got embarrassed. I looked in the mirror. I faced my skepticism.  I took on some AMAZING weight loss products that helped the weight and inch loss process, but mostly I allowed myself room to be REALLY real.

I asked myself what monster had I created?

I did something about it.

Five things made a difference for me …and still do.

  • water the only beverage of choice
  • snacks in this order; protein, vegetables, fruit, carbs
  • movement  - like get up and just walk –  forget the gym membership save that for later when you’ll actually go
  • immediate success – seeing some weight come off for me was truly inspirational
  • habits – notice them – DO something about them.

These five things are certainly not rocket science.

They are definitely not something that everyone doesn’t already know.

Did you know that yo-yo dieting increases risks of health concerns by 70%?

Dieting is bad for you!  Yo-yo dieting in particular.

For years now I have shifted lifestyle.  I lost weight!

I’ve kept the weight off!!

Years later I continue to lose. ( I’ve lost 5 sizes! )

Why?

Do we hear weight success stories all the time?

Sure.

Well — this one is mine and I am damn proud of it.

Perhaps you see a bit of yourself in my story.

More than anything perhaps you can find a bit of inspiration to give yourself that kick in the size ah-hem pants and get on the path to health.

Best yet,  imagine if we all took on weight loss, or better yet eating for health!!

We’d alter a frightening epidemic health issue.

We’d Change The World One Pound At A Time!

Tis The Diet After New Years When All Through The House

As amusing as I feel this little poem is, it occurs to me that if most folks work towards the new start they can have after an eating binge holiday season that perhaps they are missing the point. This includes myself. Past years I too ate, drank and indulged my way through weeks of parties, events, cookie exchanges and felt after the new year ready to explode!  This holiday season for what it’s worth; I didn’t bake ( gasp!!) I attended few gathering; thus less temptation and continued with my chosen healthy eating lifestyle. OK I wasn’t absolutely perfect, but I think the not baking was monumental!!  The point is, as always, is choices.  Can one get through a holiday season and not over do?

Twas the day after New Years, and all through the house
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse

The cookies I’d nibble, the eggnog I’d taste
At all those holiday parties had gone to my waist.

When I got on the scales, there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber)

I’d remember the marvelous meals I’d prepared -
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared.

The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese,
And the way I had never said, No thank you, please.

As I dressed myself in my husband’s old shirt
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt,
I said to myself, as I only can
You can’t spend the winter disguised as a man!

Away with the last of the sour cream dip!
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip!
Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
Until all the additional ounces have vanished.

I won’t have a cookie ? not even a lick!
I’ll want only to chew on an organic celery stick!
I won’t have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie.
I’ll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.

I’m hungry, I’m lonesome, and life is a bore

But isn’t that what January is for?

Unable to giggle, no longer a riot,
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!

Lanee passed this on from someone named miles davies – actual author unknown. thanks sweetie

Who Do You Know With Spring Allergies Or Asthma?

It is Spring Allergy Season!

It’s very important to me to speak to as many families as possible who may be looking for safer more natural approaches to dealing with allergies or asthma.

I was recently reminded by a good friend whose children had been on serious allergy medications and asthma steroids that her children have been completely off all the meds since she made three changes.

1.  She removed all her cleaning products and replaced them with the Non-Toxic Green Cleaning Products.  She noticed an improvement in her children’s symptoms within a week, especially, she mentioned, with the laundry products … AND …. you’ll love this part … She talked about how much money she saved from switching brands.

2.  Second, she put her daughter on a simple nutritional supplement program to build her immune system ( Vita C, Natural interferon, a quality probiotic and a superior children’s multi-vitamin )

And
3.   She started making changes in her daughter’s diet …which had been loaded with sugar, carbs, crackers and snacks …. and added more of all things — vegetables … .the goal was towards six vegetables a day.

Please let me know anyone who comes to mind who may want to know about this safer more natural approaches to keeping their children healthy  and reducing or eliminating the medications and all their side effects…
( will save money , too )

Thanks ever so much for thinking about others …
