Vintage Reminder – Take Your Vitamins

My mom had this china that my dad’s mom gave her. I just loved it.  We used it at Christmas. In the buffet drawer were these ramekins of the same pattern.  We never used them. They just sat there. I always wondered what the heck they were for.

Over the years I have collected a variety of ramekins. I use them as liners under bottles of olive oil, vinegar and pepper mills.  I use them to keep things in; shells, rocks, jewelry, cut up limes. I use them as salt and pepper ports and most importantly I use them for vitamins.

When my kids were little they each took different vitamins, I took something different from them. In the morning I’d divide our dosages and put them in these lovely ramekins. I had seasonal ones, whimsical ones, large and small. I even had ramekins shaped like hearts for the month of February.

As my consulting practice grew I noticed that some folks liked the idea of taking vitamins but had a real hard time remembering to take them.  I called it a compliance concern or issue!

When I noticed this I’d encourage them to create a reminder vessel. Something that when empty would remind them – OH yeah – I need to take my vitamins.

Some would use an empty tea cup, my male clients liked the lid of an empty jar – here at home we use a variety of vintage ramekins.

The beauty below was supposed to be a compliance vessel for my daughter. I stole it and made it mine.

Bought locally at one of my favorite stores on the planet Jackson Square Antique Mall
