I began rewind a few months ago to assist me in being more purposeful about my blog postings.

In July I had significant postings in two arena’s that I am most passionate about: nutrition and green advocacy.

It was an absolute privledge to launch Franke James most recent environmental essay.

I am beyond myself excited that I am joining a group of like – minded moms and sharing views on green topics.

I was welcomed to AllTop in the green category!

I am now a Culture Scout for Author Patricia Martin

Zucchini with Garlic,Onion and Tamari

It’s that time of year when those who garden start reaping the benefits of their efforts.

Certain  vegetables  have a pervasive presence.

Ever have zucchini  growing out of your ears ??

This post is I wrote before, and it seems perfect to share once again:

This zucchini recipe I have made for many years. I just love it. It’s complimentary to just about anything.

Tonight I could have eaten the entire pan, but then my daughter would not have had some veggies today!

This recipe calls for cutting the zucchini into thick diagonals vs strips, sticks or rounds.

Saute sweet onion rounds and garlic, add zucchini, add white pepper

Over cooked squishy zucchini is totally discusting – don’t go there.

I simmer the diagonals until the meat of the zucchini starts to weep or perspire, I turn over and add a splash of tamari

(tamari is a wonderful lower salt alternative to soy sauce – something I switched to years ago when I started my cleaner healthier eating)

Simmer a bit longer or until slightly browned – the soy will make it sortof crispy   Cooked this way they are tender crisp vs squishy.  Again a real deal breaker when eating this vegetable.

Sometimes I will whip this up, and then use the same pan and tossed in some eggs and scrambled them.  The tamari, garlic and onion residue taste amazing on the eggs . The may scramble up  a tad ” dirty ” but who cares  – it was just me eating them.

Quick and easy by the way.

Acid Reflux and Gerd Benefit from Natural Approach

WebMD Medical NewsReviewed by Louise Chang, MDNov. 10, 2005A dramatic rise in one of the deadliest types of cancers may be linked to the increasing rates of acid reflux and gastrointestinal disorders, according to a new report.

But researchers say a better understanding of how this type of esophageal cancer develops is needed before effective prevention and treatment strategies can be developed.

The report shows cancers of the esophagus and stomach are among the deadliest of all cancers with more than 80% of those affected dying within five years.

Although cancers of the stomach (gastric cancer) have been steadily declining over the last 50 years, studies show the incidence of a cancer affecting the esophagus (esophageal adenocarcinoma) has risen by about 600% over the past few decades.

Risk Factors for Esophageal Cancer

In the report, published in CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians, researchers reviewed studies on cancers located where the stomach ends and esophagus begins, referred to as the gastroesophageal junction (GEJ).

The major risk factors for this type of cancer are gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and its associated conditions, such as Barrett’s esophagus. In Barrett’s esophagus, precancerous changes are present. Other associated risk factors include alcohol and tobacco use, obesity, and eating a diet low in fruits and vegetables.

Studies have shown that the part of the esophagus closest to the stomach is more exposed to concentrated gastric acid and a variety of agents that may contribute to the increased risk of cancer in this region.

Despite advances in screening methods for this type of cancer, researchers say more research is needed to find new ways to prevent the disease and detect it early.

The researchers say that a limited ability to detect cancerous tumors early in this region has made it difficult for researchers to understand how to develop and create effective esophageal cancer prevention strategies.

I have successfully worked with a variety of very challenging digestive disorders utilizing a non-medical approach.

By adding nutrients to restore the health of the colon, reduce inflammation naturally, altering an acidic digestive system and making significant lifestyle changes we have reversed these conditions.

In the case of GERD and/or Acid Reflux our work has been one hundred 100% successful. It’s astounding to think that the rise of this very common concern has risen 600% !!  No wonder antacid ads are part of everyday commercialism.

Here is a potential list of high qaulity nutritional products that can offer relief and rebuilding and perhaps even a natural prevention strategy for esophageal cancer.

Chewable Calcium – a natural antacid without the high sodium, food dyes or artificial sweeteners
Friendly Bacteria – all health begins in the colon – by creating a strong fluora you absorb nutrients more effectively from your diet. A healthy colon also increases immune function
Digestive Enzymes - when the stomach begins to falter sometimes the enzymes needed for digestion are hindered – this supplement gives you specific enzymes needed to process certain foods
Calcium Magnesium - acid reflux has muscle spasmatic symptoms - calcium and magnesium is a natural muscle relaxant
Essential Fatty Acids - offer natural reduction of inflammation
Alfalfa – can alter the stomach PH making it less acidic
Peppermint and Ginger - a tea that can be soothing

A word about the medications perscribed for these conditions. I have been told about additional problems or harm, especially to the liver,  that come from the medications taken for acid reflux and gerd.

If you are choosing to medicate you can at least protect, detoxify and rebuild the cell damage caused to the liver by taking this product that has the herb Milk Thistle in it.

Finally, if a client does not transition to  fruits and vegetables well taking them in supplement form can begin the healing and rebuilding process.

Above is an example of a comprehensive nutritional protocol for a person who is dissatisfied with a medical approach.  Each client is different and unique – programs and results can vary.

The High Quality Nutritional Supplement Products I Choose to Sell

This might be Best of Mother Earth, and what you might find here are posts related to all things wellness, yet the fact is I sell nutritional supplements as the way I earn my living.

I make career income selling soap and pills.

I began writing nutritionally in 2002 as a way to market and keep in touch with my consumers. After I began teaching I found the educative model very effective in creating my credibilty as someone who helps folks decide which supplement to take and why. All of this effort was simply by design to reach more folks and sell supplements.

I have two mailing lists.

One is the subscribers here who read all that I write about.

The other is clients I have cultivated over the years through my work as a nutritional consultant,  as a methodology of keeping in touch and to share quality often third party sourced nutrition information.

Those folks are directed here to a particular post

You may have noticed that I never actually say the company that I am an independant distributor for here at Best of Mother Earth, nor do I say any trademarked names. This is in respect to the guidelines set forth by my company. As I understand them. Trademarked company names and products can not be mentioned in Blogs. I started to google alert my companies name and I find lots of folks not adhering to those rules.

I don’t want someone to remove my content from the internet. This is why I write about something for example like a really profound friendly bacteria and hyperlink it directly to my product website, rather than say the actual name of the product.

A few readers have found that shifty, and I apologize for that.  My intent is not to be shifty, but to be directive.

I choose this amazing company and these products from two personal experiences that I found so compelling and so profound I had to share. In doing so, it provided me with an opportunity for financial independance during my first marriage. As a stay at home mom I was not on any career path. I had to work if I was going to leave him and my first marriage was not a thriving place for me. This company and these products became that vehicle for me.  My first product experience was in 1993 – 15 years ago. Since,  I have felt proud and honored to share products from the #1 wellness company in the world.

Proud. Honored. Excited. Privledged. Quality. Always. Guarunteed.

Because this company is MLM, many folks are turned off. Unfortunately in our industry, other companies have tainted the nature of our work with an emphasis on recruiting or making money vs a product approach. We do both. I can’t say we don’t. The business opportunity is actually astounding. I personally practice a product focused approach and very selective recruiting. My company does not force me to shove the business opportunity down anyones throat. As a matter of fact the grace in which I can operate as an independant distributor is another reason I love this company. I can do what is a natural fit for me.

I believe in an educated consumer.

I offer referenced resources to those interested in alternative and natural approaches to well being  to help foster an understanding about how nutrition can help, heal and rebuild health.

I adore being part of the learning and discovery

The high quality nutritional products I recommend are in my opinion the very best. Time and time again my clients achieve the results that they are striving for.

In addition to the high quality nutritional supplement product lines, I also sell inch loss products, green clean, plant-based personal productsanti-aging skin care, mineralsourced cosmetics and water and air purification

My customer service, follow up and support is an important part of what I do

I do not recruit by policy, however if I meet someone wonderful, vibrant, fun, and health minded I will mention my interest in working with them and how perhaps our opportunity might be a fit

My shift to blogging last year has made my materials available to a broader reach.

This is the way I work.

In honor of this weekend’s Auto Show I want you to meet our families Model A Martha.

My dad restored old cars. It was one of his many fickle hobbies. By fickle I mean it came and went. Of all of his hobbies this one was my favorite.  Martha, our 1930 Ford, Town Sedan won first prize nationally for it’s restoration – this was in 1976. As a matter of fact 2 other cars from our particular MARC ( Model A Restorer’s Club) won that year too!! I absolutely loved that car. I loved the car shows, the rally’s, the parts swaps, the people.

I loved that when we were immersed in this hobby we did things as a family.
