Walnut Grove Farm in the Spring

This past winter my daughter and I had a bit of an adventure when we visited the historic Walnut Grove Farm in Knoxville – a tiny historical taraquaquicentenial town in Illinois.

( say that word fast 3 times – say it once properly and I’ll applaud you!

We went to visit again this spring for a few college tours.

I find these signs hysterical, mainly because the town is maybe a mile long.

This is the driveway you take when entering Walnut Grove Farm. It just takes my breath away.

I took a different view of Mr Charles’ Historic Barn from the other side when we were here this past winter

My daughter took this. One to capture the moment of moo ( those black dots are cows! )and the the other because I asked her to take a picture of the rolling pastures in the Spring.

These were the views from our Winter trip

Good Morning from the kitchen of the guest house. I find the view mesmerizing.

Every road trip seemingly has it’s adventure – this time we didn’t get completely lost in a snow storm, but my son and dog, Marble did get locked out or the house and waited for us for a good hour and a 1/2 in our yard.

No, actually those were taken with my film camera – an 11 yr old pentax zoom 90 WR, the camera is literally made of steel, sortof the point and shoot type camera but designed to be waterproof, drop proof and basically indestructable – which was what I needed at the time. Now I find it’s too darn heavy.  I actually JUST got my winnings check and hope to do some investigating of camera’s this weekend!
