Best of Mother Earth’s Bloggy Ninth Month Anniversary

I can’t believe that it’s been 9 months since I first began my blog.

What astounds me is how warm, friendly and how vast the reach a blog can have. I am in awe of how connected we are to each other – on the internet, this supposed cold and impersonal place.

I attended an Idea Party last night in the home of an attorney that I met in a blogging workshop a year ago. Eileen creates Success Teams of folks who are wanting to change their careers or want to aspire to greatness. She offers an 8 week class to foster structure, goal setting and accountability. This idea gathering was a place for the participants to share their ideas and for others like myself to offer suggestions to help take them to the next level.

I was struck by how cool it was for Eileen to open up her home, attendance was impressive, with a wide range of individuals and aspirations. I was also reminded how town meetings and connecting people locally really does foster a different feeling…it’s wonderfully positive. I came not knowing anyone but Eileen and yet as conversations unfolded I did find ways that I could offer resources and later in the evening had a “small world” discovery as one of the gals was using an organizer I know - I could hardly stand it!

However,  I was also astounded at how little some of these wonderful individuals knew about the internet, blogging, social networking or general networking as vehicles to take themselves to the next level. Or how sometimes time stands still in the start your own business world. One person said “oh go to the local library” and I thought to myself oh no …while I adore the library and frequent my local one all the time, in my mind it’s not a platform for business connections or even for information on how to market one’s self 21st Century

I think when I said to all …”if you don’t have a presence on the web – I won’t do business with you,” that perhaps it sunk in how valuable and how valid it is to share yourself and what you are up to on the internet. I made that statement because it’s true – hand me a business card without a site on it and I will toss it. I will actually recycle it – but you get the drift. I need to know who you are. Show me!

One of the very coolest bloggy things to happen in the last 3 months is thanks to La Marguerite,  who invited me to join other greenheads (is that like deadheads?), or other like-minded bloggers to support each other . We visit each others blogs, leave comments, share each other etc.  I have truly enjoyed getting to know these other bloggers and appreciate their support and readership tremendously. I also promise all of you to create a green blogs section in my sidebar — I swear its on the list of things to do!

In the meantime please give a great warm and bloggy welcome to some of my newest green bloggy friends.

Some additional bloggy adventures include:

I have begun a new semi sortof weekly BNI Share series

I have started submitting monthly writing entry’s to Robert Hruzek’s What I Learned from… of Middle Zone Musings

Reginald Adkins of Elemental Truths   named me a hero!

I judged a Virtual Kissing Contest

In securing a speaker for WSWE I befriended an amazing woman/author and she has since started her own blog - more posts about Sheila Glazov to come

The most surprising of all was to find out that my family whom I am not in contact with at all was reading my blog – the post once upon a time I had a family had my sister, someone I have not heard from in a very long time, leave me a comment.  This really touched my heart. Would this be possible without the internet?

My blogging mentors  sent me this comment this morning :

Congratulations Darling, oh my gosh – its hard to believe your blog is 9 months old! You continue to amaze us with almost 350 entries posted, over 400 comments of conversation and over 1,200 unique visitors from 977 key word search combos in this last month alone! HUGS

I’m on a bloggy roll !!
