Sidewalk Rage

I ran across someone yesterday while walking the dog, I am like clockwork when I walk the dog so at 4 you will find me on the same streets picking up the same dog poop blah blah blah. I see alot of the same folks on my route, but this woman on her bicycle was behaving very poorly – I have never seen her before.

I walk at 4 because it’s past the after school crowd and before the commuter traffic from the train – less people, less other dogs etc – none the less we are a busy happening little town and the sidewalk is still  is full of people.

This woman was riding very fast on the sidewalk, her baskets full, her little neon flag waving, her helmet secured but she was raging – ever hear of road rage? She had sidewalk rage. Basically she wanted a clear shot down the entire block. In order to get it she was shouting at everyone about how much better she was because she was on her bike and how all of us polluters need to get out of her way.

I really found her hostility out of place and she scared my dog with her ranting – she actually veered towards us as if to be malicious. I thought at first maybe she was homeless, sometimes they are not all together in the head,  but she had imbeccable shoes and clothing on and alot of jewelry.

I hope I don’t see her again on my route – she altered the feeling of my afternoon stroll

Being green isn’t about being better  — it’s about being.
